Privacy policy

Effective October 11, 2026

We collect as little about you as we can. We don’t sell your information, we don’t run ads, and we don’t track you across other websites. This page explains what we do collect, why, and what you can do about it.

1. What we collect

When you sign up for updates. We collect your email address and any “how you’d like to help” boxes you check. Our sign-up form is run by a service called Formspree, which passes your answers to us.

When you donate. Donations go through Donorbox and the payment companies it works with, such as Stripe and PayPal. We receive your name, email address, the amount, the program you chose, and any address or note you give. We never see or store your full card or bank account number.

When you email us. We keep your message and your email address so we can reply.

When you visit the site. We don’t use analytics tools or advertising cookies. Like almost every website, the company that hosts our site keeps basic server logs, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you asked for. Our fonts load from Google Fonts, so Google also receives your IP address and browser details when a page loads.

2. How we use it

  • To send you updates you asked for.
  • To process your donation, send your receipt, and keep the records the law requires.
  • To reply when you write to us.
  • To keep the site secure and working.

We don’t use your information for anything else without asking you first.

3. Who we share it with

We share your information only with the services that help us do the things above: Formspree, Donorbox and its payment processors, our email provider, and our website host. Each of them may use it only to provide that service to us.

We will share information if the law requires it, such as a valid court order. We will never sell your information or rent our lists.

We don’t publish donor names unless you give us permission.

4. How long we keep it

We keep your email address until you ask us to stop writing to you. We keep donation records for as long as tax and nonprofit law requires, usually seven years.

5. Your choices

  • Stop updates. Use the unsubscribe link in any email, or write to us.
  • See, fix, or delete your information. Email us and we’ll do it, unless the law requires us to keep a record, such as a donation receipt.
  • Ask what we have. We’ll tell you what we hold about you and who we’ve shared it with.

We answer requests within 30 days. We won’t treat you differently for making one.

6. Do Not Track

Some browsers can send a “Do Not Track” signal. We don’t track visitors across other websites, so we treat every visit the same way, signal or not.

7. Children

This site isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us information, tell us and we’ll delete it.

8. Keeping it safe

We use services that encrypt your information in transit, and we limit who on our team can see it. No system is perfectly secure, so we can’t promise that nothing will ever go wrong. If something does, we’ll tell the people affected, as the law requires.

9. Links to other sites

We link to news stories, LinkedIn profiles, and other sites. Their own privacy policies apply once you leave our site.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we’ll post the new version here and update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use information you already gave us, we’ll email you first.
